Stephens County’s Amnesty Day is tomorrow

Amnesty Day in Stephens County is tomorrow.

Keep Toccoa-Stephens County Beautiful in conjunction with Stephens County and the City of Toccoa, are holding the 2nd Amnesty Day Celebration for 2018.

This is an opportunity for every resident of Stephens County to get rid of their junk for free. Just bring it to the Stephens County Road Department, located at 1597 Scenic Drive, in Toccoa, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 3.

Stephens County Board of Commissioners Chairman Michelle Ivester encourages everyone to come out and participate in helping our community stay beautiful.

Ivester adds that this is an opportunity to help out your elderly neighbors, who may have items that need to be thrown away.

Commissioner Dennis Bell says that Amnesty Day has been a huge success in the past, and he hopes to see an even larger crowd come through on Saturday.

“This is for all Stephens County residents. Come out on Saturday, and help us clean-up our county,” he said.

Bell adds that without the participation of the City of Toccoa, the Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce and Keep Toccoa-Stephens County Beautiful this Amnesty event would not be possible.

Again, please remember, no tires, liquids or commercial construction materials will be accepted.

All small loose trash must be in garbage bags, and if you have paint cans they must be completely dried out.

Stephens County Amnesty Day is only for residents of Stephens County, County Marshall Tony Addison will be on site, checking vehicle tags at the entrance.

If you have an out-of-town tag, to prove your residency please bring a piece of mail, such as a utility bill, and your driver’s license or ID with your Stephens County Address.
