Stephens County Suffers Defeat at Hebron

The Hebron Christian Academy Lions defeated the Stephens County Indians 5-2 Tuesday night in Dacula.

The Lions scored three runs in the bottom of the 1st inning on a 2-run single by Sam Mitchell, and an RBI single from Barrett Bruce.

The Lions added single runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings with RBI’s from Dean Livingston and Thomas Stallworth. The Lions had eleven hits in the game with Stallworth accounting for three, and two each from Mitchell and Livingston.

Stephens County’s runs came in the 6th inning with RBI’s from Konnor Loudermilk and Tyler Zigan. Later in the inning, the Indians would load the bases, but Stallworth recorded a big strikeout to end the threat.

Loudermilk had two doubles to lead the Indians offense.

Leyton Jones picked up the win for the Lions pitching 5 and 2/3 innings and allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out two. Stallworth pitched 1 and 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the save.

Hayden Scott picked up the loss for the Indians pitching 3 and 2/3 innings and allowing five runs on eight hits. Freshman Noah Strickland pitched well in 2 and 1/3 innings of scoreless relief while giving up just three hits and striking out two.

The Indians fall to 2-2 in region-8 play and 7-7 overall. The Lions improve to 3-1 in the region and 7-8 overall.

The two teams will meet again for a doubleheader on Wednesday at Stephens County. Game one first pitch is scheduled for 5 P.M. with an airtime of 4:45 P.M. on WNEG.
