Stephens Co Middle School Softball

Last week, the Stephens County Middle School softball team defeated Hart County on Monday, 10 to 0.  

Kasey Wallace threw a no-hitter while facing 14 batters and striking out 5 in 4 1/3 innings of work.  

The Lady Rebels tallied 13 hits in the game, and accumulated 6 stolen bases. 

On Wednesday, the team had a big win over Rabun County, 17 to 2.  

Emma Powell drove in 4 runs on 3 hits to lead the Lady Rebels.  

Mailey Addison started the game on the mound for Stephens County giving up 2 hits and no runs.  

The Lady Rebels collected 9 hits in the game.  In addition to Powell, Alana Thurmond also had 3 hits.  

Stephens County will be back in action Wednesday as they play at Franklin County.

 

SCHS Volleyball story

The Stephens County High School volleyball team held their Senior Night on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at the Currahee Arena.  

The Lady Indians defeated Rabun County 25-22, 25-22, 25-14 in straight sets.  

In the first two sets, Stephens County fell behind early, but came storming back.  The third set saw Stephens County seize the momentum and went on to victory.  

Seniors Allie Brock, Kalli Moore, A’Niya Maywether, Elif Kaya, and Tytiunna Tukes all had excellent matches and led the way.  

The Lady Indians will have their next home matches this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. as they take on Union County and Franklin County at the Currahee Arena.

 

Middle School Football

The Stephens County Middle School Rebels won last Thursday night (Aug. 31)  over Elbert County in Elberton, 22 to 0.  Duke Collins had 3 receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown. Zoonk Patterson added 3 catches for 52 yards, and quarterback Branson Stowe had 140 yards and 1 touchdown—he also added 5 tackles on defense. 

Other contributing players included Dallas Hague with 47 yards rushing, one TD, and 3 tackles; Estavious Scott with an interception return for a touchdown and 5 tackles; Ja’Keron Mahaffey with 4 tackles and a fumble recovery; Camar Roebuck with 5 tackles and a sack; and Gavin Kinney with a sack.  

The Rebels are 1 and 2 on the season and will host Habersham Thursday at the Reservation at 6 pm.
