Stephens County sees another spike in COVID-19 cases over the weekend

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, Stephens County now has 262 cases of COVID-19.

To date, Stephens County has had six deaths due to complications from COVID-19.

Habersham County continues to be the county hit the hardest in our area with 717 positive cases of the virus and 36 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 2,486 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 291 tests have come back positive, 2,110 individuals received negative results, and 85 individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester, the hospital currently has three patients hospitalized who are awaiting their results.

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 144 cases and one death, Rabun County has 57 cases and three deaths, Franklin County has 217 cases and one death, and Hart County has 83 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 95,516 cases, of those, 11,775 have been hospitalized and 2,860 have died from complications of the virus.
