Stephens County Schools set to reopen January 11

Stephens County School Superintendent Dr. Daniel Oldham has announced that the school system has decided to reopen schools for in class learning beginning on Monday, January 11.

He says, after monitoring the situation over the past week, they have determined that the schools can operate safely.

Oldham explains that in class learning is the best option for students and the community.

As part of the school system’s reopening plan, Oldham says they strongly encourage both students and staff to wear masks while on campus.

Throughout the school year, he says they have learned that the protocols of wearing masks and social distancing have kept the spread of COVID-19 in school to a minimum.

The Stephens County School System announced Monday, January 4, that they would extend winter break through January 8.

At that time, Oldham said the goal was to return to the school in-classroom setting, but as safely as possible.

Again, all Stephens County Schools will resume in class instruction on Monday, January 11.
