Stephens County Schools reports spike in cases of COVID-19

The weekly Stephens County School System Covid-19 report is showing a rise in cases for the week ending November 6, 2020. The report is as follows:

5 staff members with a positive Covid-19 test.

3 staff members quarantined at home.

150 students quarantined at home.

4 students with a positive Covid-19 test.

3,929 students currently enrolled in-person and virtually.

536 current employees.

Again, these numbers represent current active cases as of 11/6/20 and are not a running total.

As reported on Thursday, the Stephens County-Hart County game scheduled for Friday was canceled due to positive cases within the SCHS program.

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting 10 more positive cases of Covid-19 in Stephens County bringing the total to 1321 and 43 deaths due to complications of Covid-19 since the beginning of the global pandemic.

The latest report was released Sunday afternoon.

The latest report now has Habersham County with 76 deaths, two less than Thursday’s report, and now 1,941 total positive cases of the virus.

In other neighboring counties, Hart County is now reporting 19 deaths and now 623 cases, Franklin County has had a total of 18 deaths and now 1,011 positive cases,  Rabun County is still  reporting 11 deaths and now 454 cases, and Banks County is now reporting 9 deaths, and now 596 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is now reporting a total of 373,078 cases, of those, 32,468 have been hospitalized and 8,194 have died from complications of the virus.
