Stephens County School System tentatively sets May 22 as Graduation for Class of 2020

The Stephens County School System has released some information addressing the concerns of many families, students, and staff.

As of Wednesday, April 22, the school system released that May 4 will begin the final week for new assignments/material; on May 8 all students work is due; May 11 through May 22 is for remediation and optional enrichment.

According to Stephens County School Deputy Superintendent Dr. Daniel Oldham, if your student is struggling, please reach out to your school principal; they will arrange help for them.

He says May 11 through May 22, school staff will continue to work on remediation planning to support students moving forward.

Then on July 16, on-site Pre-K-KG registration will be held at Big A Elementary.

Online registration is also currently available at stephenscountyschools.org.

Additionally, Oldham says graduation for the Class of 2020 is tentatively planned for May 22; however, he says that during the first week of May, school system officials will start looking at guidance from the Department of Public Health and the state to determine if the May 22 graduation date is still an option.

Oldham adds that July 17 and October 16 are potential alternative graduation dates.
