Stephens County School System resumes Grab-N-Go lunch program today at SCMS

The Stephens County School System is resuming its Grab-N-Go lunch program today at Stephens County Middle School.

The meals are provided to children at no cost, daily, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Each day, students will receive a sack lunch that includes breakfast for the following morning.

According to officials with the school system, children must be present to pick-up meals.

Stephens County School Nutrition Director Kim Caudell says transportation will do their best to get to the designated mobile bus sites today; however, some of those sites could be restricted due to the many down trees in the county following this morning’s severe storm.

The Mobile Bus Sites include: The Pines Apartment from 10:15 until 10:30 a.m.; Falls Park Apartments from 10:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.; Highland Avenue/Doyle Street from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.; and Sweet Gum Road/Pinetree Road from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon.

School officials advise motorists who are picking up meals at Stephens County Middle School to enter from the rear entrance, also known as Bus Loop Road, beside Big A Elementary. There will be trained School Nutrition Personnel along with local deputies to hand out meals.

Under Federal Requirements and Guidelines the following rules are in place: meals are available for children 18 and under in the automobile; parents are not allowed to pick up meals for their child/children who are not with them; no adult meals will be available; and meals will be served until they run out, during the serving period.
