Stephens County School Superintendent exposed to COVID-19

Stephens County School Superintendent Dr. Daniel Oldham has been exposed to COVID-19, and will be in quarantine for 14 days.

In an email sent this morning, Oldham explained that one of his family members has tested positive for the virus.

He writes: “It has come to my attention today that my family and I have been exposed to COVID-19. During this time, it is important to lead by example with full transparency and consistency in how these scenarios are handled. A close family member that is not in my household went to the doctor this week and was treated for a sinus infection. At that time the doctor did not think he was symptomatic for COVID-19, however out of an abundance of caution he was tested. Today he received his results. I was notified at 7:45 of my exposure. I notified my family and sent them home immediately.  Just as we are asking parents and staff to report their exposures, I have reported my exposure to the Board of Education and my administrative staff.

Out of an abundance of caution and following our guidelines, my family and I will quarantine for 14 days. I will still be working remotely from my home and I will be accessible via phone and email.”
