Stephens County remains at 262 positive cases of COVID-19

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, Stephens County remains at 262 cases of COVID-19 following weekend spike.

To date, Stephens County has had six deaths due to complications from COVID-19.

Habersham County continues to be the county hit the hardest in our area with 717 positive cases of the virus and 36 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 2,520 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 309 tests have come back positive with 255 patients receiving positive results, 2,178 received negative results, and 33 individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester, 146 patients that have been treated for COVID-19 at Stephens County Hospital or its other facilities have now fully recovered.

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 146 cases and two deaths, Rabun County has 57 cases and three deaths, Franklin County has 217 cases and one death, and Hart County has 87 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 97,064 cases, of those, 11,919 have been hospitalized and 2,878 have died from complications of the virus.
