Stephens County observes National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer was observed Thursday, May 2, on the lawn of Stephens County Historic Courthouse.

The service was sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Stephens County High School.

Stephens County High School student Paige Phillips prayed over the community.

“Dear God, before anything, I would like to thank you for the opportunity we have to do this today, as many people cannot across the world today. I’ve dedicated my prayer time to pray for our community,” Phillips said. “Toccoa has always and will be a home to many. I am blessed and grateful to live somewhere so beautiful and supportive — where everyone knows everyone. I pray Toccoa is a place for others to feel safe and loved. I pray that we stand with each other against the worldly temptations and troubles, rather than each other. For we should be a place filled with the same reckless and unconditional love that you show us.”

Bryce Rogers is another SCHS student who prayed during the National Day of Prayer.

Rogers prayed for Strong Christian Leaders.

This year’s National Day of Prayer theme is “Love One Another” and comes from the verse John 13:34 which reads, “Love one another. Just as I have loved you.”
