Stephens County now at 240 cases

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, Stephens County now has had 240 cases of COVID-19. The latest numbers on Thursday still has Stephens County with six deaths due to complications from the virus.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 2,438 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 283 tests have come back positive, 2,072 individuals received negative results, and 83 individuals are still awaiting their results.

According to Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester, the hospital currently has one patient hospitalized who is awaiting their results.

In other neighboring counties, Habersham County is reported to have had 705 positive cases of the virus and now 36 fatalities due to complications from the virus. Franklin County has 198 cases and one death, Banks County has a total of 140 cases and now one death, Rabun County is at 50 cases and three deaths, and Hart County has 67 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 87,709 cases, 11,500 have been hospitalized, and 2,849 have died from complications of the virus.
