Stephens County Market opens this weekend

The Stephens County Market will open this weekend in Toccoa-Stephens County.

The Stephens County Market is a local farmer’s market made up of products of local farmers or gardeners, processors of agriculture commodities, artists, or handcrafters who have produced the items for sale.

According to County Administrator Phyllis Ayers, the farmers market, located at 325 North Broad Street, in Toccoa, will open this Saturday, June 20 at 8 a.m. and close at noon.

The Stephens County Market will be open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 12 noon each week through October 31; and on Tuesdays from 3:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. each week through August.

Ayers says anyone wishing to be one of the many vendors at the farmer’s market can request an application from the Historic Stephens County Courthouse.

Vendors can rent a space either by-day for $5 or for the season for $20.

The Stephens County Market was created as a means to promote and encourage the development of local small-scale agriculture and to provide and administer a seasonal marketplace for local producers of agriculture products and hand-made arts and crafts.
