Stephens County Lady Indians defeat Tallulah Falls, 70-55

The Stephens County Lady Indians used a big third quarter to propel themselves to a non-region basketball win over Tallulah Falls on Saturday.

Stephens County outscored Tallulah Falls 20-11 in the third period on the way to a 70-55 win. Tallulah Falls closed to within 10 points in the fourth, but got no closer.

Four Stephens County Lady Indians scored in double figures, paced by Breanna Taylor’s 18 points. NaNa Eades and Ranajah Verdell each added 16 points and Savanna Broska chipped in 12 points.

Veronaye Charlton led all scorers with 22 points for Tallulah Falls and Denika Lightbourne had 17.

Stephens County moves to 5-1 with the win, while Tallulah Falls drops to 7-3 with the loss.

The boys’ game between Stephens County and Tallulah Falls was called off due to COVID-19 issues.

Both the Stephens County boys’ and girls’ teams will play in the East Jackson tournament following the Christmas holiday.
