Stephens County Indians defeat East Hall, 6-0, in high school baseball

Sharp pitching from Grant Babbitt and Ayden Garmon allowed the Stephens County Indians to blank the East Hall Vikings 6-0 Friday night at the Reservation.  Babbitt, the junior left- hander, went five scoreless innings and gave up just two singles.  He struck out seven.  Garmon finished the final two innings by allowing no hits and striking out five.

Stephens County scored a run in the first inning without a hit, taking advantage of two ground ball errors by the Vikings.  Carson Worley singled in a run in the fourth inning.  The Indians scored four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, two runs scored on wild pitches and a third run crossed the plate on a balk.

East Hall’s only threat came in the top of the fourth inning when they loaded the bases with one out.  But Babbitt struck out the final two hitters of the inning to get out of the jam.  Garmon came in the top of the fifth when Babbitt allowed a hit and an error to put runners on first and second with no outs.  He promptly struck out the side to get out of the inning.

The win gives Stephens County a 7-5 record with five wins in a row.  East Hall drops to 4-5 on the season.

Region play begins Tuesday at the Reservation when Franklin County comes in.  Game time for the first game of the three game series will be 5:55PM with air time on WNEG Radio at 5:45PM.
