Stephens County Improves to 4-0 with Homecoming Rout

The Stephens County Indians took advantage of three Dawson County 1st quarter turnovers to jump out to a three- touchdown lead and rolled to a 35-0 homecoming win over the Tigers Friday night.

On Dawson County’s first possession, Santana Smith returned an interception for the game’s first score. Dawson County’s 2nd possession resulted in a fumble recovery by Brock Tankersley that led to a 9-yard Javin Gordon touchdown run. On the ensuing kickoff, Dawson County fumbled deep in their own territory and the ball was scooped up by Da’Von Swinton and returned for a touchdown to make the score 21-0.

The score remained 21-0 until the Indians opening drive of the 3rd quarter when Gordon broke three tackles and went 36 yards for the score to make it 28-0. Jasec Smith’s interception set up an Omari Feaster 5-yard run for the final score.

Gordon added to his season rushing totals with 149 yards rushing on the night.

Despite the shutout win, Stephens County Head Coach Wesley Tankersley sees much room for improvement.

Stephens County improves to 4-0. Dawson County falls to 0-4.

The Indians will be back on the road for the final non-region game next Friday night at White County.
