Stephens County Grand Jury hands down Indictments

The Grand Jury recently handed down indictments in the Superior Court of Stephens County.

Terry Eugene Garner was indicted on one count of terroristic threats and one count of interference with government property.

According to the indictment, the charges stem from an incident that occurred on April 12, 2021, when Garner allegedly threatened to commit a crime of violence against Jordyn Preston. Garner also allegedly damaged an emergency call box.

Coreze Chrishun Clark was indicted for obstruction of an officer.

The charge stems from an incident that occurred on November 28, 2020, when Clark allegedly obstructed Jordyn Preston, a law enforcement officer with the Toccoa Police Department.

The Grand Jury also indicted Julius Jesse Smith and Gwen Elizabeth Woods for aggravated battery and battery.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on October 14, 2022, when the pair allegedly caused malicious bodily harm against a senior over the age of 65, by rendering his left orbital floor useless and by bruising the victim’s left elbow by causing him to fall during a physical altercation.

Stacey Ricky Owen was also indicted on one count of aggravated battery, battery—family violence act, and two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred July 8, 2021, when Owen allegedly maliciously caused bodily harm to Louella Marie Ledsome in front of two children.

William Russell Wheelis was indicted for aggravated stalking and criminal trespassing.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on January 16, 2022, when Wheelis allegedly contacted David Lee Vance with the purpose of harassing and intimidating the victim. Wheelis also entered Vance’s residence without permission.

Richard Vance Martin was indicted for aggravated battery.

The charge stems from an incident that occurred on February 13, 2023, when Martin allegedly maliciously caused bodily harm to Denise Ann Walls.
