Stephens County Boys/Girls to Battle for 3rd in Tournament

The Stephens County Boys Basketball team fell to Elbert County 74-61 Friday night in the Christmas in Commerce tournament played at East Jackson High School.

Chris Sinclair led the Indians with 17 points and Takias Nails added 15.

The Indians had defeated Winder-Barrow 90-82 on Thursday behind Ty Nails game high 33 points.

The Indians will now face the loser of the East Jackson-Eastside game at 5:30 P.M. on Saturday for 3rd place in the tournament. Elbert County will play the winner of the game for the championship.

The Stephens County boys are now 10-4 on the season.

The Stephens County girls picked up a big win knocking off Lanier 51-28. The Lady Indians lost to Winder-Barrow 57-29 on Thursday.

The Lady Indians (3-10) will play for 3rd place in the tournament at 12:15 P.M. on Saturday.

WNEG is not broadcasting the tournament games. The next broadcast is scheduled on the first Friday of the new year when the Indians travel to Atlanta to face St. Pius.
