Stephens Co. unemployment rate up from previous month

State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said earlier this week that the number of employed residents and the labor force in the Georgia Mountains region decreased in November.

In the Georgia Mountains region, the labor force for November came in at 338,649 with 325,942 employed and 12,707 unemployed.

Looking at the unemployment rate for the month of October the Georgia Mountains region came in at 3.7 percent; whereas, for November, we see a slight increase with 3.8 percent.

Comparatively to November 2016, the unemployment rate was 4.3; however, for 2017 we see a relatively large drop in .5 percent.

Looking at Stephens County labor force for the month of November, we had a work force of 11,107 with 10,527 being employed, and 580 unemployed residents, creating an unemployment rate of 5.2 percent, which is up .3 percent from October.

In November of 2016 the unemployment rate for Stephens County was 5.7 we see a negative trend with the unemployment rate dropping .5 percent which is positive for Stephens County residents.

Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed 1,972 new active job postings in the Georgia Mountains region for November.
