Stephens Co. Commission Meeting Today
The Stephens County Commission will get its year started with a meeting this morning.
County commissioners are meeting at 8:30 a.m. today for their first regularly scheduled meeting of 2014.
The meeting will take place in the second-floor courtroom of the historic Stephens County Courthouse in downtown Toccoa.
Stephens County Commissioners will start with a work session at 8:30 a.m. to discuss items on the meeting agenda.
The business meeting to vote on agenda items will follow the work session.
During today’s meeting, county commissioners are scheduled to select a chairman and vice-chairman for 2014.
Also, commissioners will make a number of regular yearly board appointments.
Other items on today’s agenda include the setting of qualifying fees for this year’s county commissioner and school board elections, consideration of a request from Harbin Engineering for an additional fee of $30,000 for construction observation and administration in relation to landfill closure, and consideration of a right-of-way and maintenance agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation for periodically picking up trash along state routes.
Today’s Stephens County Commission meeting is open to the public.
