Stephens Co. Baseball Heading to Elite Eight Today

The Stephens County Indians Baseball team takes to the road again, but this time it is as a member of the Elite Eight in the Class Quad A State Baseball Playoffs.

The Indians, the #4 seed from Region-8, will face off later today against the #2 seed from Region-5 Lagrange in a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 P.M. Stephens County has won back-to-back road series two games to one defeating a #1 seed Northwest Whitfield 5-1 and 10-9, and a #2 seed Luella 7-4 and 3-0.

The Grangers have swept their series in the first two rounds defeating Chestatee by identical 10-0 scores, and Northside, Columbus 5-3, and 5-2. The Indians enter the game with a record of 21-15, and Lagrange enters with a 23-11 overall record.

Stephens County Head Baseball Coach Greg McCall said at this point everyone is good and you just have to go play.

“Lagrange is a solid baseball team, they swept both series, but like I said last week once you reach this point they are all good baseball teams,” said McCall. “We are going to give it our best run.”

Other doubleheaders in the Class Quad A playoffs include Marist at Region-8 Champion Madison County, West Laurens at Blessed Trinity, and Hardaway at Heritage of Catoosa.
