Spread of COVID-19 begins to slow in Stephens County

The spread of COVID-19 is beginning to slow in Stephens County.

According to the Department of Public Health, there have been 4,388 total cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County, since the start of the pandemic, an increase of 21 since WNEG’s report last week.

The DPH is reporting 96 confirmed COVID-related deaths in Stephens County, an increase of three since WNEG’s report on Thursday.

In the last two weeks, ending October 8, the DPH reports a total of 148 new cases in Stephens County.

For surrounding counties, Habersham County has 181 new cases in the last 2 weeks, Rabun County has 60, Banks County has 66, Franklin County 88, and Hart County has 54 new cases.

In Georgia, the DPH is reporting 1,240,641 total cases, an increase of 6,260 since WNEG’s report last Thursday. The DPH also reports an increase of 422 deaths since WNEG’s report last week, bringing the total to 23,342 confirmed COVID-related deaths across the state of Georgia.
