South Carolina Man Killed By Train in Toccoa

A South Carolina man was hit by a train and killed on Saturday in Toccoa.

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell tells WNEG News that around 4:30 P.M. Saturday afternoon, Toccoa Police was notified by railroad personnel that someone had been hit by a train near the Big A Road Bridge in Toccoa.

When officers arrived, they found Charlie Joe Wilson, 45 of Inman, South Carolina deceased. Toccoa Police was able to locate some of the Wilson’s personal items in his possession to aid in the identification.

According to Jarrell, after investigating Toccoa Police and the Stephens County Coroners Office determined that Wilson was traveling from Atlanta to Inman and while walking on the tracks stepped in front of the train.

Officials do not believe that any foul play is involved.
