South Carolina Issues “Must Go Home and Stay Home” Order

Across state lines South Carolina has issued a “must go home and stay home” to all residents to limit the spread of the Covid-19 virus. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster issued the mandatory “Home or Work” Civil Emergency Executive Order at 5 P.M. on Tuesday. Exceptions to staying home in South Carolina include going to work, visiting family who may need assistance, and going outdoors for exercise only while taking the precautions to prevent infection.

Today Governor Brian P. Kemp, Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan, and House Speaker David Ralston announced plans to extend Georgia’s public health state of emergency through May 13, 2020 to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Georgia is still under Governor Brian Kemp’s “Shelter in Place” order in which all residents and visitors in Georgia are required to shelter in place within their home or place of residence. They are to limit social interaction to prevent the spread of the virus unless they are doing one of four things:

1. Conducting or participating in essential services
2. Performing necessary travel
3. Are engaged in the performance of Minimum Basic Operations for a business, establishment, corporation or organization not classified as critical infrastructure
4. Are part of the workforce for critical infrastructure
