Small Business Saturday, slated for tomorrow

While thousands of consumers are taking advantage of today’s Black Friday sales, Mainstreet Toccoa is reminding you that local shops downtown will be open for Small Business Saturday.

First observed nationally in 2010, Small Business Saturday or Shop Small Saturday is a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which feature big box retail and e-commerce stores.

Mainstreet spokesman Christian Hamilton says Saturday is a good time for holiday shoppers to show their support for local brick and mortar businesses in downtown Toccoa.

“It’s a chance to support the businesses and the owners you care about,” he said.

Most of the shops downtown on Doyle St. will be open all day Saturday for shoppers to come and find those perfect gifts.

And as a way to encourage people to come downtown to shop Saturday, Hamilton says every store that is open will be offering vouchers.

The vouchers can be used for any show.

Hamilton said the response to Small Business Saturday from the community in years past has been good and they’re expecting another great day of local shopping tomorrow.
