Slight Increase Locally with Monday’s Covid-19 Numbers

The Georgia Department of Public Health is reporting 403 cases of COVID-19 in Stephens County.

To date, Stephens County has had six deaths due to complications from COVID-19.

The latest report was released Monday.

The Department of Public Health is reporting that Habersham County has 855 positive cases of the virus and 41 fatalities due to complications from the virus.

Both Stephens and Habersham’s positive case numbers increased by one from Sunday to Monday.

Locally, Stephens County Hospital and its facilities have tested 3,693 individuals for the virus.

Of those, 588 tests have come back positive with 487 patients receiving positive results, 2,831 received negative results, and 274 individuals are still awaiting their results.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the hospital currently has seven patients hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and two others awaiting results.

Additionally, Stephens County Hospital has canceled its drive through testing sites due to a shortage of tests.

In other neighboring counties, Banks County has a total of 188 cases and three deaths, Rabun County has 118 cases and three deaths, Franklin County has 294 cases and three deaths, and Hart County has 158 cases.

Across the state of Georgia, the Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 145,575 cases, of those, 15,047 have been hospitalized and 3,176 have died from complications of the virus.
