Shawler submits resignation as Principal at SCMS

Students, staff, and faculty at Stephens County Middle School will be saying farewell to Principal Michael Shawler at the end of this academic year.

During the recent Stephens County Board of Education meeting, the board accepted his resignation effective June 30, 2019.

Shawler began his tenure at Stephens County Middle School during the 2017-2018 academic year; however, his career in the Stephens County School System goes back further, when he served as the Assistant Principal at Stephens County High School.

Stephens County School Superintendent Bryan Dorsey says under Shawler’s leadership,the middle school continues to improve academically.

Dorsey adds that Shawler announced his resignation on Monday citing personal reasons.

The Stephens County Board of Education will begin looking for a new principal in the coming weeks.

WNEG News reached out to Shawler for comment; however, he was unavailable to provide a comment prior to WNEG News’ deadline.
