Several local fire departments respond to fire at Yonah Mountain Timber Frames

Several local fire departments responded to a fire at Yonah Mountain Timber Frames on Highway 123 recently.

According to Toccoa Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Frankie Deitz, just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, an observant neighbor reported smoke coming from the business.

Multiple firefighters from Toccoa, Carnes Creek, Shiloh, and Eastanollee arrived to find a working structure fire.

Firefighters forced entry and used two handlines to extinguish the fire which was located on an exterior wall.

Deitz says the fire was limited to a storage rack of power tools and lumber and a refrigerator.

The building sustained heat and smoke damage, but there was no damage to orders that were currently in progress, and operations could resume in just a few days.

Deitz says this was the third commercial building fire that local firefighters have responded to in the last three months.

Business owners are encouraged to inspect their operations daily for any fire hazards and may call their local fire department for any concerns or assistance.
