Sept. Unemployment Figures Out for Stephens Co.

Unemployment drops in Stephens County in September.

The Georgia Department of Labor released preliminary September unemployment figures last week.

Those figures show a 6.7 percent preliminary unemployment rate for Stephens County last month.

That is down from both August’s revised unemployment rate of 7.7 percent and September 2013’s revised unemployment rate of 7.5 percent.

The total September labor force in Stephens County was 13,009.

That is up from 12,871 in August and 12,952 last September.

Of the 13,009 in this September’s labor force, the Labor Department says 12,138 are employed.

That is also up from both August, when 11,882 were employed, and September 2013, when 11,981 were employed.

Looking at other area counties, Franklin County’s preliminary September unemployment rate dropped 1.9 percentage points to 7.7 percent, Habersham County saw its preliminary September unemployment rate go down nine-tenths of a percentage point to 6.7 percent, and Banks County saw its preliminary unemployment rate drop half of a percentage point in September to 5.7 percent.
