See Something, Send Something now available throughout Georgia

Governor Nathan Deal announced last week the launch of “See Something, Send Something,” a smartphone app that directs citizen concerns to local law enforcement.

The app operates nationwide, allowing citizens to report suspicious activity and join in the fight against terrorism and criminal activity.

According to Deal, the launch of “See Something, Send Something” is the latest step in ensuring that Georgia is not only the No. 1 state for business, but also the safest state to call home.

“See Something, Send Something” provides a platform to capture a photo of suspicious activity or send in information with written text.

The service for the app is provided by My Mobile Witness Incorporated.

After information is received in the app it is then sent directly to the Georgia Information Sharing and Analysis Center (GISAC) where the tips can be evaluated and provided to law enforcement across the state as needed.

According to Stephens County 911/EMA Director Danielle Rhodes, dispatchers in Stephens County are excited about this new app.

Rhodes continued by saying that so many times people do not report suspicious activities because they don’t want to be involved or to be in danger.

However, this app will give them a different avenue to report those types of things.

Rhodes stressed the importance that this app is not to be used during an emergency.

The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS), along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) have led efforts to implement the “See Something, Send Something” system in Georgia.

Submitted tips are immediately removed from the mobile device and purged from the My Mobile Witness system following delivery to GISAC.

Again, keep in mind this system is not intended for emergency situations; therefore, any situation requiring immediate response, call 911.

The app is available at no cost for iPhone and Android phone users, as well as iPad users.
