Second Drug Bust in 2 Days

On the heels of a drug bust netting 6 kilos of methamphetamine, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit has made another significant arrest, this time for possesssion of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas said like the previous day, the arrest began as a traffic stop.

“On Tuesday, Deputy Antwune McCurry of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit stopped a vehicle traveling southbound on I-85 for traffic violations. Deputy McCurry smelled a strong odor of green marijuana coming from inside the vehicle,” said Thomas.

The deputy searched the vehicle and discovered a large quanity of drugs.

“Upon searching the vehicle, deputies discovered two pounds of marijuana. Marcus Pettice, 28, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was charged with with speeding, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of drug-related objects,” said Thomas.

According to Thomas, the marijuana has a street value of $5,000.
