SCSO Sargent Vice and K9s Dexter, Lady graduate from K9 handler course

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office has announced that Sargent Michael Vice and his K9s Dexter and Lady have graduated from a nationally certified K9 handler course.

The 160-hour course is hosted by Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, during the month-long course, Sgt. Vice and K9 Dexter trained in the detection of narcotics in various types of vehicles and under extreme induced stress scenarios.

Shirley says, Vice and K9 Lady trained in the tracking of persons in various scenarios including lost or missing people and fugitives attempting to escape law enforcement.

This training is in addition to the K9 certification Vice had already obtained.

Shirley says, Vice is a member of the Stephens County S.T.I.N.G. Unit (Sheriff’s Traffic Interdiction Narcotics and Gang) which specializes in advanced patrol and investigative techniques targeting repeat offenders and wanted fugitives.

K9 Dexter is a Dutch Shepherd and K9 Lady is a Bloodhound.
