SCSO continues to search for missing camper

The search continues for a missing Franklin County veteran.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s office identifies him as Carl Frazier.

Frazier went missing three weeks ago after telling his family he was going camping.

Frazier’s daughter reported him missing when after two weeks, he had not returned as planned.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, his office has conducted several searches for Frazier in the woods above Toccoa Falls where it is believed he was headed to go camping, but so far he has not been found.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Department of Transportation, and members of the Georgia Army National Guard conducted the initial searches, according to Shirley.

On Monday, Sheriff Shirley told WNEG News, about 40 of Frazier’s military buddies assisted in yet another search of the area over the weekend, but again, turned up nothing.

Friends of Frazier posted on Facebook that he is a veteran of the 121st Infantry Regiment of the Georgia Army National Guard’s 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and could be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

The Sheriff said family members told deputies Frazier is a survivalist and has gone off on camping trips in the deep forests before but has never been gone this long.

Anyone with information on Frazier’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Stephens County Sheriff’s office or your local 911.
