SCSO arrest Martin man after medical call

A Martin man has been arrested following a medical call.

According to Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley, deputies were dispatched to a medical call which led county investigators to the seizure of multiple narcotics.

He says around 3:00 a.m. on June 13, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Pueblo Trail regarding an unresponsive male.

Once deputies and EMS arrived, attempts were unsuccessful in reviving the unresponsive male. The Stephens County Coroner’s Office was notified of the death.

At this time, the identity of the victim has yet to be released.

Shirley says while deputies were on scene they observed several smoking devices, as well as suspected methamphetamine lying in plain view in the living room of the residence. Deputies also seized a 12-gauge shotgun.

After the coroner’s office completed their official duties, Stephens County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for the residence based on the evidence they had already seen in the home.

Shirley says during the search deputies and investigators located items throughout the living room area that included syringes, a bag of suspected methamphetamine, and THC edibles.

A further search of one bedroom revealed a safe where one of the men, Robert O’Shields, had been when deputies arrived.

The safe contained an assortment of suspected illegal drugs including approximately one ounce of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, packaging material, digital scales, suspected LSD/Acid, suspected Ecstasy, THC edibles, and several THC Cartridges.

Robert Mitchell O’Shields, 63, of Martin was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of more than an ounce of marijuana, possession of ecstasy (a schedule I narcotic) with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule I narcotic (ecstasy), possession of a schedule one narcotic (LSD/Acid), possession of a schedule I narcotic (THC Cartridges), possession of a schedule I synthetic THC Edibles.

O’Shields was transported to the Stephens County Jail where he is being held pending a bond hearing.
