SCPW added electronics to its recycling capabilities

The Stephens County Public Works recently added to its recycling capabilities.

Starting this week, the public works department will be implementing a new and free Electronic Recycling program.

With containers being delivered the last week of December, the public works department is set to begin accepting old electronics.

Dena Brawner, with the Stephens County Public Works, tells WNEG News about this exciting new program.

“This is something that will be better for the environment, we hope that this will discourage people from leaving their old electronic devices on the side of the road,” Brawner said.

Imbedded in this program is a list of items that the public works will accept, which include an array of items, such as: all types of computers, computer electronic components, audio and visual equipment, lithium-ion batteries, calculators, cell phones, copy machines, VCR and DVD players, fax machines, monitors, printers and scanners, game consoles and video games, stereo equipment, televisions, telephones, modems, electronic typewriters and keyboards and mice.

You can take advantage of this new program by bringing your old electronics to 1597 Scenic Drive, Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Again, this service is free, and is for all Stephens County residents.
