SCMS Take Two From Rabun

Stephens County Middle School played host to Rabun County on Tuesday evening and split the four basketball games.

The SCMS 7th grade girls bounced back with an exciting 22-21 win to improve to 4-6 on the season. Jaziyah Harbin led the Lady Rebels in scoring with 8 points, Daniyah Bell had 7, Carson Stowe 6, and Fayeth Ivester 1.

The SCMS 8th grade girls fell to Rabun County 37-30. Makiya Knox led the 8th grade in scoring with 14 points, Myllazia Pope and Kiara Lopez scored 6 each, and Constance Brown and MyAngel Carter added 2 each. The SCMS 8th grade girls fell to 1-9 on the season.

In the boys games, the Rebels 8th grade boys improved to 8-2 overall and 6-2 in Region play with a 48-29 win over Rabun County. Corey Richey led the Rebels with 18 points, AJ Russell and Cameron Lacey had 9 each, Evan Dumaine 5, and Chris Curry 3.

The SCMS 7th grade boys fell to 5-5 on the season as Rabun County took a 41-35 victory. Javin Gordon scored 15 of his game high 28 points in the 4th quarter to lead a comeback, but the Rebels could not overcome the 15 point 4th quarter deficit. Devin Cobb added 4 points, Ethan Smith 2 and Nuri Winters 1 for the Rebels.

The Rebels will return to action on Tuesday when they host Madison County.
