SCMS Basketball Teams Split With Habersham

The Stephens County Middle School Rebels 7th grade boys basketball team suffered their first loss of the season on Tuesday falling at Habersham County 47-46.

The Rebels led by 4 heading to the 4th quarter, but Habersham County was able to take advantage of the free throw line making 17 of 25 attempts.

Javin Gordon and Tripp Underwood scored 15 points each to lead SCMS. The Rebels also got 7 points from Semaj Walker, 5 from Andrew Keown, and Brock Tankersley added 4.

Jasiah McCurry scored 19 points to lead Habersham.

The 7th Grade Rebel boys are now 10-1 on the season.

The 8th grade Rebels outlasted Habersham in a wild double overtime game winning 49-47.

Aaron Scott led the Rebels with 22 points, Nuri Winters added 8, Devin Cobb 7, Jasec Smith and Ethan Smith had 4 each, and Colby Fowler and Solomon Dupree added 2 points each.

The SCMS 8th grade boys now have a record of 8-3.

Fayeth Ivester made a huge free throw with 19 seconds left in the game and the 7th grade Lady Rebels picked up their 3rd win of the season defeating Habersham 19-18 at Stephens County Middle School.

Lanesia Verdell led the Lady Rebels with 8 points, Kylie Glaze scored 6, Ivester 3, and Carson Stowe 2 for the victorius 7th grade Lady Rebels.

The 8th grade Lady Rebels fell to 5-6 on the season falling to Habersham 34-16. Tytiunna Tukes scored 7 points, Aurora Elrod had 3, and Trayinyasia Walker, Kaitlyn Cangelosi, and Dariyah Bell had 2 points each for SCMS.

All four teams will finish the regular season today with the girls at home vs. Rabun County, and the boys at Rabun County. Games begin at 4:30 P.M.
