SCMS Basketball Teams Split With Banks

The Stephens County Middle School Rebels split the four basketball games with Banks County on Saturday at SCMS.

Both Rebels boys teams got victories, and Banks County took both girls games.

The Rebels 7th grade boys outscored Banks 35-16 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and defeated Banks County by the score of 44-28.

Javin Gordon led Stephens County with a game high 12 points, Tripp Underwood and Daeshawn Wilson each had 9, Nuri Winters 5, Aidan Butts, Devin Cobb, Cooper Dean and Colby Fowler had 2 each, and Evan Lerma 1.

The SCMS 7th grade boys improved to 4-3 on the season.

The Rebels 8th grade boys defeated Banks County 52-44. Leading scorers were:Corey Richie & Evan Dumanine with 11 points each. The Rebels also got 10 points from Ben Stowe, 6 from Cornelius Curry, AJ Russell and Cameron Lacey scored 5 each, and Anthony Harrison had 4.

The Rebels 8th grade boys are now 5-2 on the season.

The Lady Rebels 7th grade girls had a tough loss to Banks County 27-13 on Saturday.  Fayeth Ivester had 4 points.  Jaziyah Harbin scored 3 points.  Aurora Elrod, Tatianna Tukes and Trayinyasia Walker all scored 2 points ore Stephens County. The 7th grade Lady Rebels now have a record of 3-4.

The Lady Rebels 8th grade girls also fell to Banks County 42-11. Makiya Knox scored 5 points to lead the Lady Rebels, Myllazia Pope had 3, Ella Oldham 2, and Kiara Lopez 1 point. The SCMS 8th grade girls are now 1-6.

After the holiday break, Stephens County Middle School will host Franklin County for 4 games on Saturday, Jan 5. Games will begin at 10:00 am.
