SCMS Basketball Teams Get Big Wins

The Stephens County Middle School Basketball teams played Elbert County Middle School on Thursday and Franklin County Middle School on Friday.

The SCMS 7th grade girls had a big win on Thursday over Elbert County 26-12.  Jaziyah Harbin scored 10 points.  Fayeth Ivester, Aurora Elrod and Maddie McGee all scored 4 points each.  Carson Stowe had 3 points and Tytiunna  Tukes had 1 point. The girls followed that up with a tight win over Franklin County 12-11.  Dariyah Bell scored 5 points.  Carson Stowe scored 3 points.  Aurora Elrod and Jaziyah Harbin both scored 2 points. The SCMS 7th grade girls improved to 3-3.

The SCMS 7th grade boys defeated Elbert County 56-30. Javin Gordon had a game high 14 points, Nuri Winters had 11, Andrew Keown 10, Day-Day Wilson 7, Brock Tankersley and Evan Lerrma 4 each, Colby Fowler 3, Devin Cobb 2 and Aidan Butts 1. The SCMS 7th grade boys are now 3-2.

The SCMS 8th grade boys defeated Elbert County 41-35. The Rebels trailed at halftime and fought back in the second half to secure the win. Ben Stowe & Corey Richie had 9 points each to lead a balanced attack. Evan Dumaine scored 8 points, Cornelius Curry had 7, Chris Curry 3, AJ Russell & Cameron Lacey 2 each, and Ritt Tankersley 1 . The SCMS 8th grade boys are now 4-1.

The 8th grade Lady Rebels dropped both contests falling to Elbert County 41 to 11, and Franklin County 26-20. In the Elbert game Makiya Knox led SCMS with 5 points, and Kiara Lopez and Constance Brown scored 3 each. Knox scored 12 to lead the Lady Rebels against Franklin. Cierra Lopez added 6 points and Kiara Lopez 2 for SCMS. The SCMS 8th grade girls are now 1-5 this season.

Both the 7th and 8th grade boys teams will face Franklin County this evening.
