SCMS Basketball Sweeps Elbert

It was a clean sweep for the Stephens County Middle School Rebels basketball teams at Elbert County Middle School on Tuesday.

The 7th grade Lady Rebels defeated Elbert County 29-23. Lanesia Verdell led the Lady Rebels with 15 points, Fayeth Ivester added 6 points, Maddison McGee had 4, and Carson Stowe and Savannah Smith scored 2 points each. The 7th grade Lady Rebels improved to 2-1 on the season.

The SCMS 7th grade boys remain undefeated at 3-0 winning in overtime 55-51 over Elbert County. Javin Gordon led the Rebels with 18 points, Brock Tankersley was also in double figures with 13 points. The Rebels also received scoring contributions from Tripp Underwood with 8 points, Semaj Walker with 7, Jet Black with 5, and Andrew Keown and Jonah Swinton 2 each.

In 8th grade action, the Lady Rebels moved to 2-1 rolling to a 48 -28 win over Elbert County.
Dariyah Bell and Tytiunna Tukes led the Lady Rebels with 15 and 14 points, respectively. The Lady Rebels also got scoring from Aurora Elrod and Samiea Scott with 6 points each, Jaziya Harbin added 3 points, and Jordan Curry and Abby Chapman scored 2 each.

In the boys 8th grade contest, SCMS defeated Elbert County 38-29. Aaron Scott had a big game scoring 17 points, Ethan Smith added 6, Colby Fowler 5, and Santa Smith 3.
The 8th grade Rebels also improve to 2-1 on the season.

The Rebels teams return to action today with games at Franklin County Middle School in Carnesville beginning at 4:30 P.M.
