SCHS Wrestling Pre-Christmas action

The Stephens County boys and girls wrestling teams were busy prior to Christmas. 

Due in large part to sickness and injuries, the Stephens County boys wrestling team suffered losses at the quad match Tuesday, December 19th, at East Jackson High School. 

In matches against East Jackson, the Indians’ only win came from Carter Fowler.

In matches against Habersham Central, Tucker Fuller, Austin Brawner, and Garrett Krous won.

Then on Thursday, December 21st, two Indians wrestlers placed first at the “Christmas Clash” tournament at East Hall High School–Dakota Martinez and Khalid Fleming.

The Stephens County girls team had better luck at home against Swain on Tuesday, December 19th, with a 30 to 27 victory.  Pins came from Averi Kell, Siena Malek, Rakiyah Young, Emily Harper, and MaKayla Pittman.

The girls also did very well at the War Eagle Invitational at Chestatee High School on Wednesday, December 20th.  All wrestlers placed in their weight classes, led by Siena Malek and MaKayla Pittman who placed 1st.  Also 8th Grader Kayleigh Cook placed 1st in her first high school tournament in the JV division.
