SCHS Wrestlers Headed into Sectionals This Weekend

The Stephens County Lady Indians hosted the girl’s area tournament Friday at the Currahee Arena and took fourth place overall. Individually, Emily Harper won an area championship; Siena Malek and Rakiyah Young both secured 3rd place finishes in their weight class, and Josie Plaisted, Averi Kell, and MaKayla Pittman each took 4th.

The Stephens County High School boys wrestling team took 4th overall at Saturday’s Area tournament at the Currahee Arena.  

Individually, Solomon Dupree won the area championship for his weight class. Khalid Fleming, Ashton Justus, Tucker Kinsey, and Morris Perkins were Area runner-ups. Dakota Martinez and Nathan Lewallen secured 3rd place finishes, and Clark Sanders and Malachi Williamson each earned 4th place finishes. 

Girls Sectionals will be held this Friday at Habersham Central and the Boys Sectionals will be held Saturday at Lumpkin High School. Wrestlers must place in 6th place or better at Sectionals to advance to the state tournament, which will be held Feb. 15-17 in Macon.
