Tennis: Indians teams triumph in 9 out of 10 matches

The Lady Indians and Indians tennis teams won 9 out of 10 matches yesterday, Feb. 15, at the Stephens County Tennis Complex.  

The Lady Indians extended their unbeaten streak to 6-0 with a shutout of the Hart Co. girls team.  The Lady Indians swept all three singles matches and both doubles contests. 

Nyleigh Hutto won 6-1, 6-1 at #1 singles; Maddie McGee won 6-1, 6-2 at #2 singles; Emma Summerlin won  6-1, 6-4 at #3 singles; Kara Jones & Ellen Aakerman Broddvall won 6-1, 6-0 at #1 doubles; and Laura Sanders & Fayeth Ivester won 6-0, 6-1 at #2 doubles.  The Lady Indians are 1-0 in region 8-AAA matchplay.

The Indians won by a match score of 4-1, winning 2 of 3 singles matches and sweeping both doubles matches.  

Rusty Spencer shut out his opponent at #1 singles 6-0, 6-0;  Gavin Wilkinson and Clayton Jones won 6-1, 6-2 at #1 doubles; and Jaron Jones clinched the dual match with his 6-0, 6-3 win at #2 singles.  Elijah Geoghagan and Alex Brunt shutout Hart Co. with their 6-0, 6-0 win at #2 doubles.  Kerry Wood was the only loss for the Indians, losing 1-6, 0-6 at #3 singles.  The Indians have an overall record of 4-2 and are 1-0 in region play.
