SCHS Sports Wrap: Track and Baseball

The Stephens County High School Track and Field Team had 3 team members travel to Albany last weekend to compete in the GHSA Class AAA State Track Meet.  The athletes had to overcome storms and weather delays to compete.  

Calista Curtis finished 5th in the state in the girls 100 meter hurdles with a school record time of 15.52 seconds. 

Jeremiah Scott finished 10th in Triple Jump with a jump of 42 feet and 5 inches.  

Solomon Dupree finished 10th in Discus with a throw of 123 feet and 7 inches.  

The Indians and Lady Indians Track team will end their season with an awards banquet on Saturday, May 18, according to Stephens County High School Head Track and Field Coach Gordon Thigpen. 

 

Also in High School sports, The Stephens County High School Baseball Team held their Awards Banquet last week, where Indian players who made the 8-AAA All-Region Team were announced. All Region 1st Team members included Infielder Konnor Loudermilk and Outfielder William Roush.  Nate Ivester, Craig Thurmond II, Colby Fowler, and Findley Ward were named Honorable Mentions.

During the banquet, Varsity and Junior Varsity team members were presented certificates and the following awards were handed out:

Team Captains—Craig Thurmond II, William Roush, and Colby Fowler

Scholar Athlete Award—Jack Wilhoit

Best Defense—Colby Fowler

Best Overall Offense—Konnor Loudermilk

Indian Award—Nate Ivester

Best Pitcher—Findley Ward

Team MVP—Konnor Loudermilk

Senior Awards—Ethan Smith, Craig Thurmond II, William Roush, Caiden Sweat, Colby Fowler, Nate Ivester
