SCHS Sports Update for March 14

The Stephens County High School tennis teams hosted Hebron Christian at the Stephens County Tennis Complex on Tuesday.  The Lady Indians won by a match score of 4-1 by sweeping all 3 singles matches and also winning at #2 doubles.  Fayeth Ivester, Nyleigh Hutto, and Maddie McGee won their singles contests.  Kara Jones & Ellen Aakerman Broddvall lost at #1 doubles while Emma Summerlin & Addison Vandal won at #2 doubles. The Lady Indians have an overall season record of 11-2 and a 5-2 region record.  

The Indian boys tennis team lost by a match score of 2-3.  Rusty Spencer won at #1 singles and Gavin Wilkinson won at #3 singles; Jaron Jones lost at #2 singles and Clayton Jones & Alex Brunt lost at #1 doubles and Elijah Geoghagan & Kerry Wood lost at #2 doubles  The Indians have an overall record of 7-6 and are 3-4 in region play.  

The next match for the tennis teams is today at 4 p.m. at Oconee County.

 

Also tonight, the Stephens County High School soccer teams will face Monroe Area High School at home with the girls game at 5 p.m., followed by the boys game at 7:30. The varsity golf team will take on Hart County on the road at 3:15.

 

On Friday, SCHS Track and Field athletes will compete at the Battle of the Blue Ridge Invitational at Habersham Central. Field events start at 3:45 p.m. and include shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump, high jump and pole vault. 

Running events start at 5:30 p.m and include the 3200 meter run, the 4×800, 4×400, 4×200, and 4×100 relays and the 4×100 throwers relay, the 3200, 1600 and 800 meter runs, the 100/110 and 300 meter hurdles, the 100, 200 and 400 meter dash.
