SCHS Lady Indians sweep Monroe Area in double header, first round of Region 8-AAA Playoffs

The Stephens County Lady Indians softball team swept 2 games from Monroe Area in the first round of the Region 8-AAA playoffs Monday at home, and will advance on to the region semi-finals on Wednesday.

In the first game with the score tied at 1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Jasmine Lowery hit a two-run homer.

Stephens County added 3 more runs in the sixth inning and went on to a 7 to 1 win.

Allie Huff pitched the complete game for the Lady Indians, who were led offensively by Kailyn Snyder with 3 hits.

In game two, Stephens County scored 6 runs in the third inning en route to an 11 to 2 victory.

The Lady Indians totaled 9 hits, led by Jasmine Lowery and Laney McGee who had 2 hits each.

Stephens County pitcher Allie Huff gave up 2 runs and 6 hits over 5 innings.

The Lady Indians will play Oconee County, the number 2 seeded team, in the region semi-finals Wednesday at 2 pm at Franklin County High School.

Franklin County will play the winner of Hart County/East Jackson at 12 noon.

The winner of those two games will play for the Region Championship at 6 and the losers will play for 3rd place at 4.

Regardless of Wednesday’s outcome, the Lady Indians have already qualified for the state tournament with the first round to begin October 20th or 21st against an opponent from Region 5-AAA.
