SCH’s introduces Community Paramedicine Program

As part of a new initiative to meet the needs of the underserved population and ensure optimal health for all patients, Stephens County Hospital has created a community paramedicine program.

The paramedicine program brings the same quality of care you would experience in the hospital to your home, without the high cost of a hospital visit.

Nurse Practitioner Ashley Dunson says the program is designed to serve the underserved.

Stephens County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mike Hester says the goal of the paramedicine program is to ensure that the underserved population of Stephens County is receiving the same quality care of everyone else.

Hester adds that if readmissions are reduced, the hospital would likely receive incentives from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Stephens County Hospital CNO and VP of Nursing Faye Taylor says that most readmissions stem from patients not taking their medications correctly at home.

Taylor adds that the Paramedicine program’s goal is to help those with limited resources.
