SCHS Indians will play Oconee County tonight in high school football

The Stephens County Indians will play their final home game of the regular season tonight as they host the Oconee County Warriors in high school football.

This will be a region game with kickoff at 7:30.

The Indians come into tonight’s game with an overall record of 6 & 2 and a region record of 1 & 2 after last Friday night’s close loss at Hart County, 9 to 7.

Oconee County enters the game with a 7 & 1 record after their only loss of the season last Friday, 17 to 14, to Monroe Area.

The Indians and Warriors did not play last year’s scheduled game due to Covid issues.

Oconee County is coached by former Stephens County Coach, Travis Noland.

Last night on the Crunch Time radio show, Stephens County defensive coordinator, Thomas Flowers said, with a few more plays in their favor, the Indians could be undefeated at this point of the season.

Coverage on 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG starts tonight with the Indian Tailgate Show live from The Reservation at 5:30, followed by Coach’s Corner at 7 and pre-game at 7:15.

In other Region 8-AAA games tonight, Franklin County will host Monroe Area and Hart County will host East Jackson.

Looking elsewhere around the area this evening, Rabun County will travel to Union County, Commerce will host Washington-Wilkes, Madison County will play at East Hall, and White County will host Gilmer County.

Habersham Central and Banks County are off tonight.
