SCHS Indians Track Team headed to Section Meet on Saturday

The Stephens County Indians track team scored a modern-day SCHS Region Meet points record with a total of 89.5 points at the Region Track Meet held at Hebron Christian Academy last week (April 24 & 26).

The boys’ team finished 5th with a score of 89.5 points. The Girls finished 6th with a score of 41.5.

Three Indians won Region Championships.

Corey Richie won the Triple Jump with a distance of 43 feet 2 inches.

Aaron Maxwell won Shot Put with a distance of 47 feet one inch.

Braden Griffin won the 400 meters with a time of 50.2 seconds.

Richie and Griffin also qualified to move on to the Sectional Meet in other events—Richie in the Long Jump and Griffin in the 200 meters.

Other Indian athletes that qualified to move on to the Sectional Meet were Sam Guest in the Pole Vault; Jeremiah Scott in the Triple Jump; the Boys 4×200 relay; and the Boys 4×100 relay.

The Lady Indians won the region in the 4×100 relay with a time of 51.27 seconds.

Other Lady Indians that qualified to move on to the Sectional Meet were Angel Moore in the High Jump; My’Angel Carter in the Triple Jump; the Girls 4×200 relay; and the girls 4×400 relay.

The Sectional Meet will be held in Atlanta on May 6th.
