SCHS Indians to host Franklin County tonight in high school football

The Stephens County Indians will host the Franklin County Lions tonight in high school football action.

Both teams come into tonight’s game after losing Region 8-AAA openers last Friday—Stephens County suffered their first loss of the season when Monroe Area came from behind to win, 34 to 24, while Franklin County was shut-out at home by Hart County, 37 to 0.

The Indians will enter the game with a 5 & 1 record—the Lions have a 3 & 2 overall record.

Last year, the Lions scored as time expired to beat the Indians in Carnesville, 29 to 28.

Tonight’s kickoff at The Reservation will be at 7:30.

Last night on the Crunch Time radio program, Stephens County’s wide receivers coach, Gordon Thigpen, says the Indians will have to use a good balance of running and passing to beat the Franklin County defense.

93.1 FM & AM-630 WNEG will begin our coverage tonight with the Indian Tailgate Show at 5:30, followed by Coach’s Corner at 7, and pre-game at 7:15.

In other Region 8-AAA games tonight:  Hart County will host Oconee County, and East Jackson will travel to Monroe Area.

Looking elsewhere around the area this evening, Habersham Central will host Dacula, White County play at West Hall, Rabun County will host Grovetown, Banks County will be on the road at Union County, and Commerce play at Towns County.

Madison County has the night off.
